The build up of sludge and debris in a hot water system is inevitable. Over a period of time this sludge can block pipes and prevent the radiators from distributing heat around your home and not allow the system and radiators to work anywhere near their potential.
According to all manufacturers within our industry, powerflushing is the most effective way of ensuring a trouble free and efficient system.
If a powerflush has been recommended to you and you would like Avery & Wright to carry this out this service we would firstly connect our powerflush machine to either a radiator or your pump. We then run the powerflush machine until the temperature reaches 60 degrees. We then add the suitable cleaning chemicals through the machine so it can be circulated around your heating system.
We allow the chemicals to mix and circulate around your heating system, monitoring the magnetic filter on the machine to see the condition of your heating water and just how much ‘sludge’ is present within your system.
Once the initial flushing process in complete we then shut down all of the radiators on your system but one and flush each radiator individually one by one until the filter is clean.
We will then turn all your radiators back on and cold flush your system. During this process your boiler will be turned off. We then introduce fresh mains water back into your system and this then is pumped around your system by our machine. This is known as ‘The Dump Cycle’ and the fresh water will push your contaminated central heating water out your system, via the magnet and then to the outside drain.
We then repeat the initial stage of the flush by isolating each individual radiator one by one until the water runs clear.
The final stage of the powerflush is when our engineer is satisfied they will introduce the correct inhibitor for your system and its size. He will then carry out a test to check the system is running correctly.
